Once you are ready to enter a mission in Marvel’s Avengers, the flow is as follows:
- Mission Selection: Players browse available missions on the War Table. The higher the challenge, the bigger the rewards.
- Lobby Load: Players load into a game lobby and matchmaking a strike team in War Zones. AI Companions will involve if you are single-player.
- Ready Up: Players can set "Requested" companions on the Character select screen to specify AI Companions or friedns online.
- Mission Load: Assembled your Strike Teams while loading missions.
- Mission Start: The Quinjet drops you off at your destination and mission begins.
- Mission Complete/Summary: Show players' proficiency and rewards.
- Return to Campaign or Stay in Co-op: Pick a new mission or restart the previous mission

Important points for Marvel's Avengers Mission types:
Main Story:
- Reassemble Campaign: The original Avengers story starts with Kamala Khan to reassemble Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
- Avengers Initiative: Expand the Avengers universe with co-op or single-player. Interconnected series of stories, missions, and personal hero arcs. Update and evolve over time.
Side Missions:
- War Zones: side content including concealed caches, powerful bounty enemies, AIM depots and hidden rewards to upgrade your heroes.
- War Table: Access War Zones in Outposts, Quinjets and the bridge of the Chimera Helicarrier.
- Strike Team: Assembles your dream team in War Zone missions up to four players.
- Hero Level: Gain XP to increase the individual Hero’s total level.
- Power Level: The average number of all Gear slots used that influences rewards, enemy progression, and gates access to late-game content.
- Challenge Rating: Difficulty of each War Zone.
CO-OP Mission Types:
- Faction Missions: Rebuild Outposts for their allies in SHIELD.
- Drop Zones: Short missions with a single objective for quick play sessions and a shortcut to gain rewards faster.
- SHIELD Vaults: Large explorable spaces to locate the coordinates from hidden SHIELD caches and reap the rewards.
- HARM Rooms: Holographic Augmented Reality Machine (HARM) is a holographic training room for taking challenges that consist of a range of enemies.
- Hives: AIM strongholds, uncover their location and disable them.
- Villain Sectors: Missions culminate with a boss fight.
Technical Tips
- Muting Players if needed by hovering over their nameplate.
- Pausing: When matchmaking is enabled, pausing the game is disabled in War Zones. When matchmaking is disabled, players are able to pause the game.
- Join in Progress: Marvel’s Avengers DOES NOT support Join in Progress Matchmaking.
- Crossplay: Marvel’s Avengers DOES NOT support Crossplay.
- NAT Types:
